The
Old Miners Association considers its primary function is to bring
more people into the valley to attend our events and patronize local
merchants (spend money in the Valley). We accomplish this by producing
events that celebrate the history and heritage of the Big Bear Valley
that attract visitors to the Valley.
This year, we are promoting the Merchants in the Valley with a
new program designed to stimulate local business, by bringing new
customers to participating Merchants. The Merchants, in turn display
Old Miners’ Event posters and sell Old Miners’ Buttons
to increase awareness of the entire Old Miners’ Days series
of events.
Here’s how it works:
• Visitors and Locals buy a 2008 Old Miner’s Days Button.
• Button holders gain FREE admission to all Old Miners’
Events.
• Button holders also are encouraged to patronize participating
Merchants, who offer a discount/promotion to anyone who holds an
Old Miner’s Button. For example, a merchant may offer some
% off each purchase by a Button Holder, or a Free Desert with a
meal, or a % off the 2nd night of lodging. The merchant decides
what type of offer to make.
• The Old Miners’ Gazette will advertise all the merchants
participating in the promotion and encourage Button holders to patronize
the participating Merchants.
• There is no cost to Merchants to participate in the promotion,
other than to promote Old Miners’ events.
• Merchants will have the opportunity to sell Old Miners’
Buttons throughout the Valley, and realize a profit on each Button
sale.
• Funds generated by the sale of the Buttons will be re-invested
by Old Miners into promoting the participating Merchants and the
Old Miners’ Events, attracting more customers to the Valley.
Merchants in the Valley will have the opportunity to have a placard
of Old Miners’ Buttons to sell in their place of business.
A placard of 10 buttons will cost each merchant $65.00 ($6.50 each)
wholesale. Recommended retail price of the buttons is $10.00 each.
